Opiate Addiction Treatment Center

An opiate addiction treatment center offers many options for treatment. This allows you to work with the counselors at the center to determine the best course of treatment for you, instead of being stuck in a one size fits all approach. Promises Behavioral Health programs include a women’s addiction rehab program, as well as a separate program for men.

Do You Need an Opiate Addiction Treatment Center?

It can be difficult to recognize that you may have an addiction to opiates and need treatment. Signs that you need treatment include not being able to control your opiate use, and obsessive thoughts about the drug.

This behavior and continuing use despite negative consequences is another sign. This could be an impact on your work performance or attendance, strained family relationships, financial hardship, or legal trouble. Anytime you continue to do something despite negative consequences, there is a possibility you may be addicted to it.

You may become hostile or defensive when questioned about your opiate use. Do you become angry when someone asks why you are taking opiates? How much you are taking? If so, consider the reason why these feelings arise.

Tolerance or withdrawal symptoms are another sign. While they actually indicate physical dependence, this does increase your chances of developing an addiction. Tolerance means you require more of the drug to get the same effect. In addition, withdrawals generally cause flu-like symptoms, including nausea, diarrhea, and aches and pains.  Psychological symptoms often include agitation, anxiety, insomnia, and depression.

Inpatient vs Outpatient

Inpatient treatment is recommended for those with a severe addiction. This can include physical dependence, which can be overcome with the help of medically assisted detox. This can be particularly important for those addicted to opiates because the physical withdrawal symptoms can be difficult to manage on your own. Inpatient programs offer medical support, a safe environment free of temptation, and intensive therapy.

However, inpatient rehab isn’t for everyone. Some clients aren’t comfortable leaving their homes to attend rehab. They may have work or family obligations that make it difficult to do so. They may also simply be better candidates for outpatient treatment due to the lesser severity of their addiction.

Other factors that should be considered when weighing the benefits of inpatient vs outpatient are your support system, any co-occurring mental health issues that may require more intensive treatment, and your physical health. Our dual diagnosis treatment centers evaluate and treat any co-occurring mental health issues for a full recovery.
